Such a fun, tasty Danish treat to try! The worker was super friendly and made our æbleskiver within 2 minutes of ordering. We tried the cinnamon and cream cheese flavor and thought the 3 buns were enough for me and my wife. For those who haven’t tried these, they’re like a dense pancake ball. Delicious and worth stopping in! Nice outdoor seating too.

We went there to try the original Aebleskivehuset. They were delicious. I was afraid it would be too greasy but actually it was not. It was very fresh and tasty with strawberry jam. I will go back again.

If you’re in Solvang and not getting æbleskiver, are you even doing it right? We stopped by Æbleskiverhuset (aka little Danish heaven) and were blown away. Pillowy, golden, and perfectly crisp on the outside, with that fluffy magic inside—paired with powdered sugar and raspberry jam? Unreal. Total cozy comfort in every bite. It’s one of those things that makes you feel like a kid again. There’s a reason these places are legendary. 10/10 worth the line.

I recently visited Aebleskivehuset during my trip to Solvang, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish.
First off, the customer service left much to be desired. We encountered a clerk (bloke) who, quite frankly, seemed like a wannabe Chris Martin but with none of the charm. He was rude and seemed thoroughly annoyed at having to interact with patrons. Asking to try the black licorice ice cream—a flavor that can be hit or miss—was met with a dismissive attitude, which was surprising for a place known for its adventurous flavors. It’s not too much to ask for a little decency when trying something new!
The overall atmosphere felt cold and impersonal, reminiscent of a Danish attitude that perhaps doesn’t lend itself to warm hospitality. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when you feel like an intrusion rather than a guest.
As for the food, it was big-time mediocre. I expected something that honored the local culture and flavors, but instead, the dishes were bland and unremarkable—more reminiscent of what you might find at Walmart than a quaint restaurant in Solvang. Even the donut hole rocks, which I had hoped would be a highlight, failed to impress.
In summary, my experience at this joint was underwhelming, and I can’t recommend it if you’re looking for both good food and good service. There are plenty of other options in Solvang that are worth your time and money. Save yourself the misery of this complete waste of time.
