My first visit to Dr K. He was great! He actually read my previous records before he came into the exam room!! I don't think ANY doctor has EVER done that! He is very clear and doesn't get crazy with scans and prescriptions unless he really thinks you need it. If you ask a question, he makes sure you understand the answer.
It was a great experience.

When I call a doctor’s office, I want to speak directly with someone in that office, not another company in TX with non-American English speakers. When I questioned this practice, I was told they couldn’t find people in Tulsa to hire. Odd to me that other offices are fully staffed. I understand that you may have to leave a voice message, but you get a call back from someone in that office. I messaged the day before my procedure about the prep and NEVER got an answer. Having said all of this, I think I have a more than competent physician. When I went for my follow-up appointment SIX weeks later, I saw a quite competent Nurse Practioner, who was very thorough. I was never told I wouldn’t be seeing the physician.

When I went to my initial appointment, Dr Singh recommended a colonoscopy. Nothing urgent but cancer is on the rise for younger people, makes sense. Made the appointment and was advised that I’d be getting a call for the prep. Got the call, paid the fee, got the meds. Received a call yesterday, the doctor’s fee is $300+ and due by the time of procedure. Received a voicemail this afternoon that the facility fee is $600+ and due at the time of the procedure.
The procedure is in 6 days.
I understand having to pay for a procedure. I understand having to pay it before the service is performed. Yes, I should have asked in advance.
It’s extremely unfortunate that they can’t be bothered to disclose these things to patients ahead of time. There was nothing mentioned when the appointment was made and nothing in the paperwork I was given. I know not everyone is struggling with money like I do but I know not everyone has $1000+ just burning a hole in their pocket either. I’ve rearranged my work schedule and paid for prep for a procedure that isn’t going to happen. Even if I did have this money, I wouldn’t give it to this practice.
There’s nothing that can be said to make this right, I just hope this is informative to someone else who might also be struggling financially and just trying to take care of “necessary” medical procedure. Make sure you can afford it before you let them schedule the procedure or don’t get sick?
