Their donuts are delicious same with the croissant. Pretty decent coffee too. Prices are unbeatable.

I was walking around looking for somewhere to eat when the aroma of bakery treats hit me in the face. It kind of makes me wonder what it'd be like to be able to see smells.

Well, maybe it was because I was really hungry, but the ham and cheese croissant hit the spot. It tasted like they were generous with the ham and cheese but then I would at what I was eating and it was actually rather sparse. But hey, good taste is good taste so I'd get it again.

The red velvet cake was passable. Don't bother with it.

I have to jump on the bandwagon about the apple fritters. Those things are amazing. Cheap, huge, sweet, and I ate it across 24 hours without sticking it in a refrigerator. The last bite tasted as good as the first!

I also really dig how you can see them making everything in the back through a very open walkway. That just screams quality at me.

They made a delicious red velvet cake for my client's baby shower, and delivery within Northern California sweetened the deal. One star off for the frosting a being a little heavier than I requested. I will enthusiastically use them again when I need a cake for large gatherings.

I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars. The pastry and coffee are great, the Vietnamese employees VERY nice and accommodating.
So.... why the hesitation? Because, this being 1/2 block off Market and stepping right into the Tenderloin, at times, mostly in the AM before noon, there's some sketchy people there. But I don't know anyone personally who that's stopped from going to this place.

If you Love All Things Sweet... (From Fine Pastries, Wedding Cakes to... of course, FRESH DONUTS & COFFEE.) You've got to visit California Bakery ! Come in Say "Hello" to the front counter girl who greets and prepares your Freshly Made Sandwiches or Helps you fill your donut selections. She does it all ! What the Bakery lacks in seating and ambiance they more than make up for it Quality Pastries, Fresh Coffee and Donuts.
Ask to try their "Iced Cinnamon Roll"... but be prepared to experience a new level of Sweetened Exstasy! At Market St. & 7th St. just 1/4 of a block behind "Carl's Jr's" @ United Nations Plaza. ENJOY!

Loventhis Bakery...it had me up tonight ready to catch a bus to get my favorite...the apple fritter! They are the best! They are ginormous, moist, priced right and so so tasty. so are the cake doughnuts! you wont regret your visit! be there in the morning myself!

Ownership has allowed their business to be overrun by people using the dining area to buy & sell stolen goods, from laptops, cell phones, and even things as mundane as a pound of coffee and tubes of toothpaste. I walked in to purchase a donut, only to find a swap meet in progress.
