This place has a ton of promise. Not many places in town make home made tortilla chips to serve with the hot sauce much less for the crispy tacos. This place does and very well.
The chips and hot sauce are outstanding. Lacking salt for my taste but that was easily personalized for me with the salt shaker.
The wife and I got the Tuesday night special. Two incredibly fresh and flavorful crunchy tacos with rice and beans. The rice had a great punch of flavor and definitely authentic. The beans were not the best, they tasted almost soured so we didn’t eat them but everything else was so good I didn’t care.
We also tried the Tacos Tapitio. It is very nice because you can order them Individually or as a plate. My wife is a light eater so it was perfect for her. It was as authentic as it gets. Home made,extremely crunchy outside, flavorful filling and the Cabbage drizzled with Crema topping was fresh and paired perfectly.
I order a chicken Gordita on the side and it was very good as well. The chicken inside was packed with flavor, with the fresh vegetables and grilled flour exterior made this a treat.
I am very surprised at how good this was and I will return to try more items.
If they fix their beans, they would sky rocket to the top of my favorites list.

The restaurant is very clean, though incredibly brightly lit. The service was prompt and super friendly and helpful with the items on the menu that we were unfamiliar with until tonight!

The chips were fresh and the salsa was DYNAMITE!!! We would go back JUST for that!

We ordered many items from the menu. The stars of the night were hands down, the taquito with fresh cabbage and cotija cheese, and the enchilada tamaulipecas!! The beef Gordita was also very good!

We also had the carne guisada, and the cheese enchiladas. They were good, but would it order them again.

We came to this restaurant because we saw the sign outside and found it intriguing, "La Cocina de mi Madre"(My mother's kitchen). We ordered Birria and Mole, two of the most traditional Mexican dishes. Those two were served on special occasions in Mexico in the old days.

My dish was Mole, and I loved it!- It was not spicy or super sweet (both common mistakes people make when making Mole). The chicken comes clean and without skin. The tortillas are handmade, soft, and fresh. I made a taco with Mole and chicken, and the first bite took me back to Mexico. I asked the waitress who made this delicatessen, and she proudly and smiling said, "My Mom." I got to meet her, and she is super sweet, friendly, and with a beautiful smile (that has nothing to do with this review, sorry). Make sure that you order at least two more tortillas to be able to clean your plate. You will want to do that, but they only give you only two tortillas.

The birria was ok. I was not expecting two quesadillas with birria, but the taste was excellent. I liked it but could not enjoy it because I was thinking about the Mole. This is, so far, the most authentic, homemade Mexican Food I have tried in Abilene.

My food is usually great. My last visit, got cold chewy flour tortillas . Im not a complainer. Won't send it back. All the rest of the food was great!

This place was excellent. Wife and I went on July 4th for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The chips and salsa were delicious, the birria was very good and quite filling. Service was great as well and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Will be back!
