We recently dined here and had an incredible experience! We started with the grilled octopus, which was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The cod fish prepared in the traditional Portuguese way was a highlight, showcasing authentic taste and generous portions. The clams were also extremely tasty and a must-try!

Despite being completely full, we couldn’t resist grabbing some egg tarts for dessert, and they did not disappoint! Overall, the food was delicious, the portions were large, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I highly recommend here and can’t wait to come back for more!

A Hidden Gem with Amazing Food and Atmosphere!

I recently visited O Maiato restaurant, and I have to say, it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the cozy yet modern atmosphere—perfect for a relaxed meal or a special night out. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Seriously a very solid restaurant in Leicester.
A hidden pearl, decoration may be simple, but food comes in great quality and large amounts.
The staff are truly Portuguese and the food feels like eating in Portugal.
Prices go from 15-22 pounds mostly, but they are huge plates.
I will come back definitely.

The food was excellent! We had a mix grilled with chicken and pork food was delicious, the service was wonderful. Our waiter was so attentive and accommodating. I had a great experience at the restaurant. The customer service was outstanding. I was very impressed with the quality of the product i received. And the manager was so kind and helpful. This is a great place to eat and feast on all those traditional Portuguese staples in Leicester.
Attention to detail, great chef and owners do their best for you to enjoy a Portuguese restaurant environment experience.
Bonus feat that during the day time hours they have a Portuguese Supermarket on the premises, where you can get most ingredients to do your own at home.

Built with great taste to Portuguese high standards.
The food is authentic, absolutely yummylicious. It's literally a little Portugal close to Leicesters city center.
The huge plus is the fact that this restaurant is directly connected to a Portuguese supermarket(Lojinha da Sónia) which offers you an huge variety of products.
The staff are the most humble people, always ready to help and serve you the good ol'Portuguese way
I've been to many Portuguese restaurants and supermarkets all over the UK and this restaurant and supermarket together, are an whole other level.
It's definitely worth the walk if you're local or the drive if you're not. Don't miss it. ?
