Food was fantastic I can not explain to you how fabulous the hollandaise sauce is!! The corn beef hash is the best in town, and compared to other restaurants in town the price is fair!! The staff was friendly and the service was fast, the owner her self came by the table to see how we liked our food!! Highly enjoyed and will definitely be a returning customer!!

I have been recommended this restaurant more than a dozen times. Here we are! This place lives up to the hype. Absolutely amazing food. I ordered a Country Benedict with Sausage and my guest ordered a 1+1+1 combo. This place has such a warm and vibrant environment. Very welcoming and pleasant staff. Restaurant is always busy (which is usually a good sign unless you're impatient). Personally loved the food thoroughly. Country gravy was seasoned to perfection. I was very impressed. This place is must visit. 15/15

My server, Samantha, was excellent; but the food was a different matter entirely. When this restaurant was on Park Avenue, years ago, it had excellent cooks who made food that was a cut above the usual mediocre diner fare, and they charged several dollars more than the other diners. The premium prices were worth it, at that time. At some point after the restaurant moved to Main Street, the cooks were different, probably the ownership changed, and the quality of the food went quite seriously downhill; but they still charge premium prices as if the restaurant was the old Roost. My french dip sandwich with extra meat and salad on the plate cost $25.98, not including tax or tip. It was absolutely dreadful. Just awful. Tough, cheap beef, microwaved until it was dry. I could not finish anything on my plate. Even my coffee was fourth rate. A bad experience, overall. Maybe they can still make a good breakfast. But lunch was not acceptable. If you are willing to eat bad diner fare prepared by cooks who don't know how to make appetizing food, there are several inexpensive diners, including one just two blocks down Main Street, that can do that for you for a lot less money. If you don't believe me, and think I am exaggerating, try it yourself. You will see.

The three of us came in for breakfast. We were told it would be about 25 minutes so we waited outside. We were sat within 10 minutes. The restaurant looks clean. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, answering the few questions we had quickly.

I had the Monte Cristo, a turkey and ham sandwich made on French Toast. The turkey looked like it was sliced by hand instead of using just pre-sliced lunch meat. The sandwich was great, they even included the raspberry jam that it traditional with a Monte Cristo. My wife had the San Francisco Special which is pretty much a "Joes Scramble" with mushrooms. she loved it. My daughter got Corned Beef and Eggs. The corned beef was cooked fresh and was juicy. The eggs were over easy as ordered.

Edit We've eaten here three times now and each time was great.

I've been here twice and I LOVE it! Everything was delicious! They have real butter and half & half and a huge selection. There are two sections, bar style seating in front, and tables in the back. I'm from out of town, and I definitely plan on coming back every time I come to Chico. A real gem!

The Roost Cafe was expensive on our first visit, and not worth the experience. Probably arriving after 1 PM had a lot to do with this since it was obvious they were gearing up to close. A friendly suggestion to return another time would have worked for the best for both parties. Cleaning had begun in earnest.
Food: Park Avenue Omelet, $16.99. A mess of ingredients inside, cover with Hollandaise Sauce, served in a much smaller plate than other places. Accompanied by a Potato Pancake? English muffin lightly toasted. Tasted well enough but not impressive. 3 Stars.
Asparagus Omelet, $15.99, with Rye bread that was not rye bread. No asparagus, had to be returned so the I want to go home cook could add very small diced pieces of the main title, very little amount on the side! Hash browns very dark, overdone. Mistakes occur at the end of the day, I suppose. 1.5 Stars.
Service erratic as well, mop guy all around. Total $35 plus gratuity. A sign saying Best in Chico a little joke for us. 2.5 Stars.

While it can be a challenge to find parking for the Roost, it is well worth the effort to do so.

The menu is fairly standard, but the kitchen is excellent and does an amazing job with the dishes.

The front of the house staff, in my experience, truly shines. I have never had a bad experience and they have always been friendly, fast, and efficient.
