Receptionist very friendly and quick. Waited maybe 15 minutes to go back. The nurse that brought me back was super friendly (Mei). Kept thanking me for choosing this clinic and wishing me well. Doctor very thorough, knowledgeable and friendly (Dr. Ali). Set me up with meds and standard testing. Apptment was at 8. Back by 8:15. Doctor in by 8:25 and out of clinic by 8:45. Win-Win. I will return. I did see a lot of reviews that were disheartening, however I’ve been at several clinics at UAMS and there’s never been a problem with the staff. I love that they all access my records which make communications between the clinics very helpful. I did have to wait almost 6 months to get in. But that’s because we need more doctors… not because of the staff that’s currently there. I’d rather have a great doctor that takes time with everyone than rushed you through. I will also say that most of my doctors are foreign and extremely proficient. They are serious about their job. Maybe that’s what people don’t like. But I appreciate that!! I’m ok if they don’t joke with me. I’m there to feel better. ❤️

My mother in law was seen today in the GI clinic in the outpatient. She waited for this appointment for 5 months. We drove two hours to this appointment all to be incredibly disrespected and dismissed. The APRN Carmen Paniagua had the worst bedside manner and didn’t do anything to help my mother in law. She had the audacity to open the door and leave it open while talking and commented it was due to her not being able to tolerate the smell of cigarettes and would need to air the room out when she leaves. She then proceeded to tell her that all of her issues are due to her smoking tobacco even though her 7 diagnosis’s listed and 11 surgeries, and malnutrition weren’t something of concern... told her that by the time she’s 55 (she’s 44 now) she’ll be carrying around her oxygen tank to combat her COPD which she doesn’t have. Profiling and berating someone’s nicotine addiction in order to dismiss them with no help or nor any follow up is unacceptable. 10/10 would not recommend.

It was okay a small lobby. Not very crowded today. Doctor was very understanding and asked the questions that needed to be asked. Hopefully the next appointment will go as good.

I waited 4 months to get in to see them. I finally see a nurse practitioner who insists on redoing all the tests I've already had done. Wait 2 more months to get these redone. After that they cancel my followup appointment without any explanation so I send a message asking why and get a call from some guy who says they don't need to see me anymore and to follow up with my PCP. My PCP is the one who sent me there! 7 months of pain with no treatment or explanation of why. Just more doctor bills for repeated tests.

My first appointment was scheduled for today. I was eager to be seen after waiting 4months. I showed up to the OP clinic on time but had to wait in line to check-in. I called upstairs to let them know what was going on and that I would be there once I got through the line downstairs. No one answered but I left a message. I was in the gi clinic 14 minutes late. By the time it was my turn at the counter it was 17 min after my appointment time. I was unaware of the 15min late reschedule rule. "No problem" I thought, because I had called, left msg, and was in the door 14 min late (one minute before the cut-off). I even showed the receptionist I had called but they were adamant that "no you will be rescheduled for April because you were late past the 15min rule." That's another 5 months away! They can kiss my gastrointestinal tract goodbye. I'm hoping my referring physician will send me elsewhere. Anywhere but the uams gi clinic. They obviously do not care. I met the deadline but it did not matter because they did not want to see me.

I've had appointments with the gastroenterologist oncology Dr Laryea and unexpectedly ended up in the emergency department and missed my appointment, but I did prior to the appointment time let them know where I was at why I was there and ask for a new appointment!
The staff there is terrible about returning calls or rescheduling!
I have asked 3 times for a new appointment and have yet to be contacted!
I've had a wonderful experience with UAMS but Dr Laryea and staff seem to be bothered when you try to get medical care!
Very disappointed in this part of UAMS!

Very disappointed by the inability to get in touch with care provided/Doctor. Three calls, three unanswered, three messages left. No return call. Just the kind of response one would like when dealing with liver failure and kidney failure.

The doctors are almost impossible to reach, even for something as small as a prescription refill. The entire department seems to resent their patients. I would not recommend them at all.
