It is increasingly challenging to place trust in doctors and nurse practitioners. I have been unwell for three months. Their response was that they do not know what more to do except for me to call when symptoms recur. However, Lucy does not answer her phone, scheduling takes weeks, and scripts for tests, which are approved by insurance within days, take weeks to be sent out. If I do not persistently follow up, I would not receive care or tests. I feel frustrated by the implication that I am dishonest. It seems I must take on the role of diagnosing myself and then bring the information to them. There appears to be a lack of concern for patient well-being. At 44 years old, I suffer from severe heartburn and am already on the highest doses of two antacids. I was bedridden for four weeks and given oxy for pain at the hospital, yet I was told there is nothing wrong. I asked about seeing another specialist or exploring food allergies, but was informed I had already undergone a thorough evaluation. Today, I secured the quickest appointment after expressing my frustration to the NP about needing to see the doctor. This does not seem coincidental to me.

The Staniford Street staff are always kind and courteous, and are invested in not just the specialty care they provide, but in patient wellbeing as a whole. As someone who has lived with chronic illness their whole life, I count myself lucky to be a patient at their practice. Thank you everyone at University GI!

I havnt seen my doc there in 4 years. Mainly because I felt like I was chasing to get an appt, and there was zero follow up. I have a friend who highly recommended her gastro from this same place and I got referral from my primary. Called to follow up on the referral and was told since I already saw the other doc 4 YEARS AGO, I am established with them for life unless I leave the practice. They would not allow me to switch. My body, my choice., and I should be able to not see a doc I didnt care for, because they wernt caring for me. So, if you go here, and do not feel comfortable with your doc, too damn bad, because you cant see anyone else.

I have been trying for 3 days now to schedule an appointment for my mother with her gastroenterologist. They transfer you in circles over and over. When you finally reach someone they say “the scheduler will call you back.” 3 days and still no call back. And my mother is not a new patient. Good thing our healthcare system is trying to keep patients out of the emergency departments.

Amateur hour at its finest.
My procedure was booked for weeks. I had completed all online pre visit medical questionnaires on line. I had completed the 48 hour prep with myralax and dulcolax. I was seated in that facility awaiting my appointment when a nurse called me to take my vitals. At that point they decided it was time to inquire about any recent changes to my health so I informed them of my recent MI as well as spinal fusion surgery. After learning of these changes to my health the doctor informed me that he was not comfortable performing the scheduled procedure and that we would need to reschedule. That final insult was that my wife, also a mid level health care provider had to cancel 20 patients so that she could be my DD. Just an unprofessional, amateurish and insulting waste of all of our time. Never again.

I was asking for details on my testing and Dr Margolis took it as me questioning him as a doctor. I asked him what my test would cover out of curiosity, like, what it would look for, and he went "Are you going to tell me what exactly to look for too? I've been doing this for many years." I was ataken back because I wasn't questioning him whatsoever I was just curious as to what it would look for, I explained that to him and I apologized if I offended him, he replied with "I'm not offended I just find it interesting when people think they know more than doctors." I just wanted to know what my test was going to be looking for. I'm autistic, I need specifications or else I get confused. I've been here for two years and Ive never been spoken to like that before just for wondering what exactly a test I'm being given is looking for. I ended the call and burst into in tears.

I am so impressed by this office—everyone I have dealt with has been courteous, efficient and kind. Dr. Roussel’s thoroughness and thoughtfulness when dealing with my medical concern is so reassuring. I was nervous going in but left feeling happy and supported—5 stars is not enough.
